Welcome to my blog!

Hello, hello!

It’s been a long time online, hasn’t it? Maybe you know me from the soon-to-be (after April 2019) defunct Google Plus? I was on there as Cindy Brown from its inception in 2011 to its death eight years later. I have to admit despite its being treated like a red-headed stepchild by Google, it was one of my favorite online forums for a long time.

Maybe you know me from twitter? I’ve had an account there since about 2006, tweeting random stuff. Used to be more personal daily stuff, now it’s mostly political.

Or further back? I had a lifetime (laughs hollowly) account on LifeJournal, which I abandoned for DreamWidth after the Russians purchased the former (and that was a LONG time ago, way before Russia picked up the U.S. in 2016.

Oh yeah, I’m unapologetically liberal. Really, way left liberal. If you wanna know more about me, look thru About Me.

Before that? Well I was on Usenet from the late 80s to the late 90s before I took a rough 5 year leave of absence. Anyway, minus the Usenet stuff (which can mostly DIAF) I’ve more or less collected the LJ, DW, and G+ stuff back into this WP. I posted on here directly from about 2008?ish to 2011 where it mostly got abandoned for the shiny G+ and I’m dusting it off again.

So what’s up with this blog? Well, after the whole Google Plus experience, I’ve decided I want to have more control over my content online. It’s not that I don’t like social media–far from it. I think it’s great! But I also think I post content that I’d like to keep around later and not be at the mercy of, you know. Google which never bothered to even have one single solitary customer help line. Facebook which sold its soul (and our data) to the devil. On and on it goes. So I’m posting here, and then posting links back here on social media.

Where can you find me?

  • Twitter
  • Google+ (until sunsetted)
  • Mastodon
  • (I have multiple accounts! But I’m not very active there…it’s really rather twitterish despite being very anti-bird)

  • Pluspora (a Diaspora pod)
