My oldest used to go to a Jewish private school. It’s a little scary after something like this.
My kids, too.
A lot of places have been mentioning this – not that it helps anything, but at least it helps with transparency: “Correction: This article originally incorrectly identified Rose Mallinger as a Holocaust survivor.” e.g. https://people.com/crime/synagogue-shooting-victims-names-photos/
Hey, it’s okay. Just replace this with the story of the 80-year-old guy who drove up four minutes late for the service and was informed by cops that he needed to back up and get out of there because there was an active shooting situation. He then tried to comply while lead flew around him. He was eight when his family was murdered by the Nazis. Here’s the story: forward.com – Holocaust Survivor Cheated Death At Pittsburgh Synagogue Massacre By 4 Minutes
So we can all think about that instead. Though I’d recommend that we spare a thought for poor Rose Mallinger as well, since pretty much any Jew anywhere who lived through the latter half of the 20th century is, in some sense, a “holocaust survivor.”
John Jainschigg I’m adding that link anywhere I mention the correction! Thanks for bringing it.
