I’m speechless.

I’m speechless.

“Russia has violated the agreement. They’ve been violating it for many years,” Trump told reporters before boarding Air Force One to leave Nevada following a campaign rally.

“And I don’t know why President Obama didn’t negotiate or pull out. And we’re not going to let them violate a nuclear agreement and go out and do weapons and we’re not allowed to,” he said. “We’re the ones that have stayed in the agreement and we’ve honored the agreement.

[…]

Administration officials believe the treaty has put the US at a disadvantage because China does not face any constraints on developing intermediate-range nuclear missiles in the Pacific and does not allow the US to develop new weapons.”

NO YOU STUPID ORANGE TURD THE ANSWER IS TO BRING CHINA THE FUCK INTO THE TREATY.

Trump says US is ending decades-old nuclear arms treaty with Russia

President Donald Trump announced Saturday that the US is pulling out of the landmark Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty with Russia, a decades-old agreement that has drawn the ire of the President.

  1. Zero surprise. 45 has a long displayed hard on for nukes. Anything stopping the USA from building up its arsenal, he’s against for exactly that reason.

    We are so fucked…

Putin thinks he can deploy IRBMs to threaten Western Europe, Turkey, and Former Soviet Union nations. Which is f*ing stupid because you can’t rule another nation by threatening to bomb them every day. It simply does not work.

Nukes are a waste of resources. They’re a one-trick pony. A singular trick that we don’t dare use – but one we are reasonably assured we COULD pull off if anyone else got the idea. Building up more doesn’t help us.

But what it does do is sink resources in to a hole. Ignoring the argument of swords vs. plowshares – it’s resources that could better go in to military capabilities that are far more versatile. Our conventional military is a force to be reckoned with. Something that, for example, gives Russia pause. But get us to volunteer squandering our capabilities and weaken our conventional capability?

Now. Who would be benefiting from that. I wonder.

  9. All I can think of is the last scene of the movie “On The Beach.” I just hope it doesn’t happen in my children’s lifetime, but I fear it will.

this is him using this as a fear raiser in front of the elections. he is covering something else up as well as distracting.
this is also a kind of ‘come to jesus’ moment for all who speak up in favor. every single one that nods yes behind him needs to be taken out of office as a threat to the nation and the world if they say they agree with this. they are clearly and completely displaying that they are against the sane survival of the world. they are against the constitution. they are bought and paid for by someone/something that puts profit ahead of everything else.
anyone that fails to see that or echoes this call needs to be seen as an enemy of the nation and the world. they either want to set the planet on fire for profit, or use the fear of that for profit. either way they are a threat to all of us.

Perhaps more red meat to the MAGA crowd – pulling on nostalgia levers. Nukes used to be part of the military might / dominance mystique for the US. Painting Democrats as weak-on-defense (chance to invoke Obama here) and promising to “restore” a symbol of US might. Toss in China for some added fear spice. Oh – and toss out some political chaff as being “tough” on Russia (where increased US nuclear capability really doesn’t hurt Russia in any appreciable way – but it does help them when you give them validity to improve one of the few force multipliers Russia has access to).

  14. If nostalgia levers worked on Maga folks, they wouldn’t be so accepting of the Russian attacks on our democratic processes. Nor as quick to suck up to or praise Putin.

Charles Moore naw – MAGA is nothing if not nostalgia. Sure – the admiration of Putin should invoke cognitive dissonance. Yet here we are. MAGA hats and all.
